The Sophomore Album with Khewy
Get to know Khewy (K), a talented musician trying to make his mark in the City of Boston. In this interview with the President of SNAKE Magazine, Kevin Small Jr. (KSJ), they discuss his first album: Welcome to Khewy’s World, Vol. 1 and what to expect from his upcoming release.

KSJ: WHERE ARE YOU FROM?
K: I’m from New York, came to Boston in 2000 so I am a Boston person. I’ve been here all my life but I am from New York.
KSJ: WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO MAKE MUSIC?
K: I’ve been listening to music my whole life. My uncle taught me how to rap when I was two years old so before I was saying ABCs, I was already rapping. I’ve been rapping probably since 1994. I’ve been rapping since I was a little kid, that’s what I’ve always wanted to do. I never really wanted to go to college or work a job, I really wanted to rap so that was my passion.
KSJ: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE ASPECT OF BEING A PERFORMER?
K: My favorite part of being a performer is the fans’ reactions. The fans give me more energy to put on more stuff. When I put on my first project, I didn’t know how people were gonna take it but people actually liked it, people secretly liked it. They know all the words which makes me feel good. I like when people rap to me with my own lyrics, so it’s the fans. The fans give me the best aspect, the best feeling.
KSJ: TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR FIRST ALBUM.
K: Alright, Khewy’s World, Vol. 1. I call it “The Sturdy Tape” because I am a sturdy person, that means I like to dance. You know, the new dance for the young folks, so I call it “The Sturdy Tape”. It is a little bit about my life, about my friends. Realistically I rap about my life, but it’s about my friends. I tell what my friends do, I just tell the truth of what really happened in the Boston world. That’s about it on “The Sturdy Tape”, you can dance to it, it has a lot of songs that you can dance to.
KSJ: WHAT DOES YOUR UPCOMING PROJECT LOOK LIKE AND WHAT SHOULD PEOPLE EXPECT FROM THAT?
K: Not as much sturdy music. I’m gonna have more melodic things, more things that you could vibe out to but still things you can dance to. I’m gonna have a lot of good music for folks. Like a lot of music for people to hear a lot of it is gonna make you feel good inside. Gonna make you cry inside, laugh inside, and dance a lot. Don’t forget the dance, that;s my number one thing. I’m all about the people to dance, so I like dancing.
